It's That Time Again

Guess what this is:

Give up? That's my weight measured in my first week back on Atkins. I'm losing more than a pound a day, and that's 9.5 pounds in the first seven days.

Now, just so we're clear on this, I'm 6' 5" tall, so I'm not grossly overweight. But I let myself go a bit at Christmas, and 260 is the most I've ever weighed. So enough of that crap already. Cycling more than a hundred kilometers a week doesn't seem to be enough to keep the weight off, and some dieting is required. And goddamn it if Atkins doesn't just melt the fat away.

Good weight loss. I am surprised that cycling doesn't help maintain the weight.

Understandable, but.....

Perhaps you should consider getting a crappier bike so that you have to work a little harder to make that weekly century?

And here I was feeling guilty for not re-oiling the chain every week.

Actually, this bike gives me a harder workout than the previous one. It has front shocks, which absorb some of the cranking that I do up hills.

My commute used to be 14.5 k each way when I lived in North Van, so my weekly ride was nearly 150k. My diet at the time was near-vegetarian, and I was a blimp.

Weird

Me, I'd be a stick figure on a 150 per semaine.
